Orissa, August 5, 2015: PNB MetLife, among the leading private life insurers, and Punjab National Bank (PNB), a leading nationalized bank in the country, in partnership with the NGO, Nirman Foundation have provided toilet facility to the children of Gandhiji High School, Bargarh District, Odisha. On this occasion, a health and hygiene workshop was also organized for the children. As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility program, this initiative demonstrates the commitment of the organisation towards promoting health and hygiene among children.

The health and hygiene workshop was inaugurated by Shri TR Sahu, Circle Head, Punjab National Bank, Shri Avik Choudhury, Regional Head-Bancassurance, PNB MetLife and Shri Jadumani Sahu, Headmaster in presence of other teachers of the school. Supporting Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and demonstrating its commitment towards promoting health and hygiene among children, the initiative is aimed at preventing open defecation in the school. The PNB MetLife supported project, especially provided two separate toilets - one for girls and one for boys, ensuring appropriate support and equal chance for girls to continue their education.

Speaking on the initiative, Shri Avik Choudhury, Regional Head- Bancassurance, PNB MetLife said, “We have a strong focus on promoting education, health and hygiene across the country and this is yet another initiative in this direction. We are delighted that we have contributed to the national program of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and will continue to provide our support as a responsible corporate.”

As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program, PNB MetLife has also been running various initiatives and programs around education and development of underprivileged children, health and hygiene, promotion of badminton and Financial Inclusion in India. The company has impacted the lives of more than 25,000 children in the last one year, through its programmes in the state of Jammu & Kashmir and Karnataka.
