Guwahati: As many as 404 skilled shuttlers from across the city impressed the audience with their performance on the final day of the PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship.

The Guwahati leg of Season 4 of the tournament concluded today at Assam Badminton Association-     Kanaklata Indoor Stadium, bringing out top 16 shuttlers from the city

In the Boys Singles U-15 category, Anurag Talaukdar defeated Ayushman Saikia with score 15-13, 15-14 In Girls Singles U-15 category, Leimapokpam Diana Devi won the final by defeating Krishika Kashyap with 15-12, 15-7.

Mr. Nipun Kaushal, Chief Marketing Officer, PNB MetLife said, “JBC as a tournament has grown to become one of the biggest annual national open-platform’s for young badminton enthusiasts. Guwahati has given us a tremendous response, with over XXX participants. We hope to continue the momentum in other cities.  I want to congratulate the winners who showed such passion in their performance. We wish them all the best for the finale at New Delhi.”

The winners were felicitated by the Chief Guest Mr. Paragmoni Mahanti, ACS, Secretary, Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority and by Guest of Honour Mr. Navroze Munwar, Associate Legal Advisor, Badminton Association of India

Mr. Mr. Paragmoni Mahanti, ACS, Secretary, Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority said, “We have reached the last leg of JBC 4 and Guwahati has impressed with its talented shuttlers. With the calibre of children playing the finale in Delhi is sure to keep everyone on the edge of their seats. We hope that many more children can benefit from platforms like these that are changing the culture of sports at a grass root level.”

PNB MetLife has partnered with the CRY Foundation as CSR Partner for this initiative. The objective is to use sports as an effective medium of empowerment for children and help them undergo a transformational change. The competition helps in nurturing the right talent at an amateur level, thereby fostering their growth and ability to perform on a global scale. 

The next leg of this year’s championship is scheduled from 17th July in Delhi.
